Abstract

These records document Governor John Young Brown's power and privilege to make official public announcements. Included is the call for a special session of the General Assembly to meet in August 1892, in part to correct errors committed during the regular session; proclamations announcing each annual Thanksgiving and Arbor Day holidays; and the 1894 proclamation establishing Labor Day as an annual holiday.
